Dirk FlowerExecutive Director
Dirk is the Executive Director of Flower Associates International. He is one of the leading Chartered Psychologists in the UK, having gained his Masters and Diploma of Educational Psychology in New Zealand.

With nearly thirty years of practical experience in giving therapeutic and psychological support to children and adults, Dirk established the practice in London in 1982 to provide psychological and behavioural therapy to help people make positve changes in their lives.

Experience

As well as being a psychologist, Dirk is a fully-qualified teacher and has extensive expertise as a therapist for children, adolescents, couples and families.

Dirk has worked for a number of years as a mediator of family situations.

He also provides Behaviour Management courses for schools throughout the UK. Furthermore, Dirk conducts psychological assessments for the specialised speech and language service in London as well as for individual families.

Expertise

Dirk’s special areas of expertise include;
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • Stress – both work and personal stress, such as difficult family situations or the circumstances arising from divorce or access arrangements.
  • Conflict resolution, both for individuals and organizations
  • Delivering psychological and educational assessments
  • Helping parents deal with challenging children
  • Providing expert evidence on children with challenging behaviours, in particular children suffering from Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • Family mediation

Appearances and Associations

Dirk appears on BBC TV and radio as an expert in child and adolescent psychology. He is a regular speaker on parenting skills for a number of blue-chip and smaller organisations.

Dirk is frequently invited to present at several national and international conferences that address, among many other issues, parental management of challenging children and working with deaf children. He regularly provides information for UK magazines and newspapers and has recently contributed to two books on working with children and families who have post-traumatic stress disorder. The books have been published in English and Italian.

Dirk is a member of the British Psychological Society, the Association for Coaching, and is registered with the Health Care Professions Council.
